- 요약Engaging in voice exercise through leisure activities, such as in choral groups, has been suggested as a potential means of maintaining or improving vocal function in older adulthood (Brown et al., 1991; Lortie et al., 2017; Stager et al., 2020). Such activities may also offer social-emotional benefits (Bernard & Rickett, 2017; Joseph & Southcott, 2015; Petrovsky et al., 2020; Southcott & Joseph, 2015). This study assessed the impact of participation in an eight-week vocal fitness group on objective measures of vocal function, auditory-perceptual characteristics of voice, and voice-related quality of life in three older adults without voice problems, using a single-case, AB design with a follow-up period. The results indicated modest effects of the program in some of the participants in some vocal parameters, including highest phonational frequency, maximum phonation time, and listener-perceived deviations in voice qualities. No significant changes in voice-related quality of life occurred in any participants. The paper concludes with discussion of results, social validity, clinical implications, and future research directions.
