초록/해제
요약The Tokai to Kamioka (T2K) experiment is a long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment that measures the (anti-)muon neutrino ((-) νµ) disappearance and (anti-)electron neutrino ((-) νe) appearance in the (-) νµ beam, which aids in the measurement of neutrino oscillation parameters (θ23, ∆m223, etc.) and provides constraints on the CP-violation phase (δcp) in the neutrino sector. The neutrino beam is produced by the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex facility (J-PARC) located in Tokai, on the east coast of Japan. A near detector complex, placed 280 meters away from the beam source (ND280), precisely measures neutrino interactions. The neutrino beam travels through the ND280 and the ground to the west coast of Japan and is detected by the Super-Kamiokande (SK) detector, which is a water Cherenkov detector. The neutrino neutral current single π0 (NC1π0 ) interaction produces a single π0 , which can mimic the (-) νe interaction signature in the SK. Therefore, it contributes as one of the dominate backgrounds in the measurement of (-) νe appearance. To measure the production of NC1π0 channel on water, the π0 detector (P∅D) was constructed as a component of the ND280. The P∅D detector is a layered scintillator detector with water bags that can be filled or drained, enabling the measurement of neutrino interactions specifically on water. This thesis measures the production rate of NC1π0 on water using the P∅D detector. The detailed procedures include the sample selection strategy, systematic uncertainty, modeling and a Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) statistical framework, validation against fake data, and the final measured result of NC1π0 production rate on water. This analysis utilizes T2K forward horn current (FHC) mode run data, comprising 3.72x1020 protons on target (POT) with the P∅D water-in configuration and 7.87x1020 POT with the P∅D water-out configuration.
