- 요약Auditioning holds a central role in academic musical studies. Music programs, both undergraduate and graduate, require applicants to perform auditions based on specific guidelines set by each program. In this project, my intent is to investigate the degree to which these guidelines have been used to reinforce a canon in the piano repertoire. Therefore, I am aiming to address and question the status quo in audition requirements. In addition, I will discuss actions that institutions are taking to address the issue. My hope is to spark further conversations among performing artists and pedagogues about purposeful and meaningful work that can be done towards promoting more equitable and diverse representation of composers in our field.
