- 요약My dissertation aims to investigate the contributors to online extremity. In my first chapter, I combine evolutionary and psychological theory to explain why the internet is highly attractive to people, even though much of the content is negative. In my second chapter, I examine how people's adaptive preference towards negative stimuli influences the news that people consume online. In my third chapter, I investigate how differences in what people choose to share publicly vs. consume privately distort our perceptions of norms, leading to affective and false polarization and pluralistic ignorance.
