- 요약Chapter 1 of this dissertation is titled "The Minimum Wage and Inequality Between Groups" and is co-authored with Francine Blau, Matthew Comey, Lawrence Kahn, and Nikolai Boboshko. This work studies the impact of the minimum wage since 1979 on inequality at the bottom of the wage distribution between men and women and between whites, blacks, and Hispanics. Chapter 2 of this dissertation is titled "Demand for Social Security: Evidence from Patchwork Coverage" and is co-authored with Andrew Johnston. This work analyzes school teachers' valuation of Social Security coverage using teachers' job transfers between Georgia public school districts with different Social Security policy agreements under Section 218 of the Social Security Act. Chapter 3 of this dissertation is titled "Task Specialization, Family Formation, and the Gender Earnings Gap: Evidence from U.S. Physicians" and is solo-authored. This work probes the degree to which male and female physicians differentially specialize in medical procedures of varying complexity. The analysis uses a novel matching strategy to link physicians in a public dataset to restricted-access administrative Census data and uses this linkage to investigate the impact of childbearing on physicians' specialization behavior.
