- 요약This treatise examines the life of American composer Judith Cloud (1954-2023) and three of her vocal works. The first chapter introduces Cloud's life and career as a performer, teacher, and composer while also outlining her compositions in chronological order. The following chapters analyze selections from her vocal and piano repertoire: The Secret History of Water, sets 1, 2, and 3 (2002-04), with text by Cuban-born American poet Silvia Curbelo. The final chapter offers the reader style considerations and discusses challenges that the pianist and singer may encounter in the score. The appendix provides a complete list of Cloud's compositions. This treatise aims to highlight the long legacy of Judith Cloud and encourage vocalists and pianists to explore her extensive repertoire.
