- 요약The two dissertation recital performances, along with an in-depth exploration of the operatic role present my proficiency, artistry, and scholarly expertise in the field of vocal performance. These endeavors demonstrate a comprehensive range of languages, styles, and cultural backgrounds exhibiting a nuanced application of vocal skill and interpretative prowess. The character analysis "A Modern Heroine in Offenbach's Orphee aux enfers" delves into the portrayal of Eurydice within the context of Offenbach's opera and explores the relevance and relatability of the character to modern society, while shedding light on themes such as autonomy, agency, and societal expectations. The first recital, "Life and Death," offers music by composers Henri Duparc and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, which celebrates the vibrancy of life, love, and the richness of lived experiences, and Richard Strauss' songs contribute a contrasting perspective, focused on the acceptance of the inevitable end of life. The second recital, "Melodies of Diversity," with music by Giacomo Puccini, H.T. Burleigh, Hall Johnson, Moses Hogan, and Joshua Mthembu, reflects my diverse influences, training, and identity as a performer.Recital 1: In terms of a recital, the role of Eurydice in the operetta Orphee aux enfers by Jacques Offenbach on November 9 and 11, 2023, at the Power Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with Mo Zhou, director, and Brain Garman, conductor.Recital 2: "Life and Death" on December 7, 2023, 8:00 pm at Stamps Auditorium in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with Lydia Qiu, piano, and Anda Jiang, Violin.Program: "L'Invitation au voyage," "Extase," "Soupir," "Chanson triste" Henri Duparc; Songs of Sun and Shade: "You lay so still in the sunshine," "Thou hast bewitched me, beloved," "The Rainbow Child," "Thou art risen, my beloved," "This is the island of Gardens."
