- 요약The purpose of this qualitative critical single case study was to explore the process and implications of the integration of social justice education in sport management in an undergraduate event management course at a liberal arts university in the Midwest United States. This study aimed to understand how one sport management faculty integrated social justice education in her approach to teaching sport management, and its implications for sport management students, specifically how they engaged with the curriculum and course design. Data collected in this study included three semi-structured interviews with the course faculty, six group interviews with sport management students enrolled in the event management course, nine class observations, and course document analysis to understand the process of implementing social justice education in sport management, and its implications for sport management students. Social justice education theory guided the thematic analysis of the data collected. Results revealed two themes in the hidden process of integrating social justice education in sport management for one sport management faculty member. Critical consciousness was found to be an aid in the integration of social justice education for one sport management faculty, and increased workload was found to be a restraint. Subthemes of Critical Consciousness in the integration of sport management education included positionality of the sport management faculty, tenants of the higher education institution, and the role of sport management education. Subthemes of the additional workload in the integration of social justice education in sport management education included additional time and energy required by the faculty and a lack of faculty training. Findings from this study provide important information for sport management faculty and programs to consider. This study concludes with theoretical and practical implications and recommendations for sport management faculty and programs.
