- 요약Mindfulness has been found to promote personal and relational health in the past two decades. However, the reciprocal and dynamic nature of mindfulness in dyadic or close relationships has not been systematically evaluated. As an important interpersonal relationship, couples' relationships provide a fertile ground for revising views of oneself, relationships, and the larger world. The dynamics inherent in a couple's relationship not only form a crucial subsystem within the larger family system that passes along relational patterns across generations, but also plays a pivotal role in nurturing and influencing other significant interpersonal connections. Therefore, a meta-analysis was conducted to examine the crossover effects of mindfulness within couples' relationships - that is, how an individual's mindfulness may impact their partner's outcomes. Informed by the actor-partner interdependence model, we hypothesized that higher levels of actors' trait, state, and interpersonal mindfulness would be associated with more beneficial partner outcomes. We searched six databases (PsycINFO, PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane trials) for quantitative studies reporting statistical analyses linking actors' mindfulness with partners' outcomes. Moderators such as mindfulness types, partners' outcome categories, relationship duration, culture of origin, and gender were also examined. Among 8079 studies, 27 studies (with 22 unique samples) were included in the final analysis, representing 7663 pairs of couples. Results demonstrated a significant crossover association between actors' mindfulness and their partners' outcomes (rs = 0.17 to 0.24), regardless of gender and the examined relationship types. Couples' culture of origin was the only significant moderator. This is the first meta-analysis to systematically examines the crossover effects of mindfulness in couples' relationships. Limitations, future research directions, and implications are discussed.
