- 요약On-shell scattering amplitudes naturally describe physical observables. Recent developments of on-shell amplitudes give great insights into experimental measurements and the structure of physical theories themselves. Under this new conceptual framework, we tackle what it means for a particle to be elementary as opposed to composite in 4 and 5 spacetime dimensions, leading to a better understanding of why living in 4 dimensions is special. We also use answers from amplitude computations to investigate whether our universe will end due to the metastability of the Higgs vacuum, informing our falsifiable predictions about physics beyond the Standard Model. Lastly, we also use the scattering amplitudes approach to understand real world ocean waves, leading to new predictions and novel ways of modeling nonlinear surface gravity and capillary waves here on Earth, unveiling their rich structure.
