- 요약The interaction between colloids and electric fields plays a central role in directed assembly and particle manipulation. This dissertation focuses on the electrohydrodynamics of colloids, with particular emphasis on the nonlinear effects arising from geometric confinement and field-dependent conductivity in non-polar solvents. The work begins with an investigation of the electrostatics of a spherical particle near a single planar surface or confined between two parallel planar surfaces. Two complementary approaches are employed. The first, based on bispherical coordinates, provides detailed information about the complete electric field. The second, using electric multipole expansions, offers a more efficient framework for calculating the electrostatic force and torque acting on the particle.Building on the bispherical electrostatic solution, the electrohydrodynamic flow generated around a spherical particle due to the field-dependent conductivity, arising from the Onsager effect in non-polar solvents, is analyzed. This flow is found to induce a lift force on a colloidal particle in proximity to a planar electrode.
