초록/해제
요약Alice Cooper, the Shock Rock persona of Vincent Furnier and the lead singer of the band called "Alice Cooper", has died on stage thousands of times during performances since the late 1960s/early 1970s-via guillotine, electric chair, hanging, or otherwise-but he has never had to get "old". Every night, the character is reborn, revived, or reanimated: seemingly eighteen years old, even as Alice Cooper the Performer (Vincent Furnier, now legally renamed) himself reaches twenty-one, thirty, and now seventy-seven at the time of this writing. Aging, ageless, and undead, simultaneously and depending on the moment, the artist's personas, music, and stage shows have had and continue to have a unique positionality that allows them to reveal complex intersections of age, time, disability, metamodern authenticity, and certain popular cultures. Through elements like changing vocality, monstrous characters, crutch-and-cane choreography, age-related themes, and humorous, vaudevillian, camp-kitsch shock rock theatrics in his musicking, Alice Cooper serves as an accessible source for artists and fans alike to understand and express age as a performed, mutable identity.
