- 요약This dissertation explores the lived experiences of immigrant Afrolatina adolescents attending Blank School, centering their voices around themes of Blackness in Latinidad and immigration, colorism, mestizaje, marianismo, machismo, mental health, and support systems. Framed by Latina/o Critical Race Theory (LatCrit), Critical Race Theory, and Chicana Feminist Theory, the research uses culturally grounded methodologies including Sista Circles, platicas, and written testimonios. Seven immigrant girls from Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and Venezuela shared personal narratives that illuminate the intersectional realities of being both Black and Latina in educational spaces. Six key themes emerged: Blackness, Teachers, Men, Boys and Machismo, Mental Health and School Psychologists, Family and Friends, and Immigration. Findings highlight the need for school psychologists to adopt culturally affirming and responsive practices that address the unique mental health and educational needs of Afrolatinx students. This study also contributes to the growing body of work in Chicana Feminist and LatCrit Theory by making visible the often-erased experiences of Afrolatinx youth in psychological and educational research.
