- 초록/해제
- 요약This dissertation explores the economic consequences of aging populations on productivity and innovation. Chapter 1 employs macroeconomic data to analyze the relationship between aging and total factor productivity (TFP) growth, finding a significant negative correlation. Chapter 2 shifts the focus to firm-level data in Brazil, using an econometric model to demonstrate that an older workforce is associated with lower innovation and productivity. Chapter 3 develops a theoretical framework to examine how competition over economic policy and wealth distribution can lead to suboptimal outcomes, highlighting the role of institutions in improving efficiency. Together, these chapters provide empirical and theoretical insights into the challenges of aging societies.
