A method to promote growth of plants on agricultural fields which comprises applying particulate granular pyrolytic carbon having a density of 1.6 to 2.3 g/cc, a specific surface area of 0.001 to 5 m2 / g measured by Hg porosimetry, a particle size of 0.3 to 8 mm and a carbon content of 95 to 100 weight-%. Use of granular pyrolytic carbon containing granular pyrolytic carbon having a density of 1.6 to 2.3 g/cc, a specific surface area of 0.001 to 5 m2/g measured by Hg porosimetry, a particle size of 0.3 mm (d10) to 8 mm (d90) and a carbon content of 95 to 100 weight-% as soil conditioner for agricultural fields and/or gardening, carbon content of 95 to 100 weight-% on the agricultural fields. |

Specialty Fibrin Product / Fibrin, LLC The present invention is a specially prepared fibrin foam, and a method of (and equipment for) making it, which is flexible, contains either open cells, closed cells or both, and having individual cell diameters between 0.001 and 2 mm. Typical ratios of reactants, to give the desired foam characteristics, include 50 cc (45-55 cc) of whole blood (prior to separation to the plasma component) with the subsequent addition thereto of 2 ml (1.5-2.5 ml) 3% hydrogen peroxide, 5000 units (4500-5500 units) thrombin and 1 gm (0.9-1.1 g) calcium chloride in 3 cc (2-4 cc) water. The present invention also includes specialty vessels and constructs, namely, automated, or semi-automated inner containers for the non-blood reactants, and a custom outer separation vessel having a punted based with an annular base lip as well as an upper tube shape tapering inward towards its top annular opening. |

Multiferroics that are both ferroelectric and ferromagnetic at room temperature / Driscoll, Judith L. Multiferroic articles including highly resistive, strongly ferromagnetic strained thin films of BiFe0.5Mn0.5O3 (“BFMO”) on (001) strontium titanate and Nb-doped strontium titanate substrates were prepared. The films were tetragonal with high epitaxial quality and phase purity. The magnetic moment and coercivity values at room temperature were 90 emu/cc (H=3 kOe) and 274 Oe, respectively. The magnetic transition temperature was strongly enhanced up to approximately 600 K, which is approximately 500 K higher than for pure bulk BiMnO3. |

신규 3-치 오비닐-세 파로스포린 유도체의 제조방법 / 로오느-푸우랜크샹뜨 [목적]본 발명은 구조식(I)의 화합물 3-치오비닐-세파로스포린 신규물질과 그 염을 제조하는 방법의 제공을 목적으로 한다.[구성]본 발명의 구성은 구조식(VII)의 치올로-에스테르를 구조식 (VIII)의 7-아미노-세파로스포린과 반응시키거나,생성된 산화물을 환원시키거나 보호기를 제거시켜,Syn-혹은 anti- 형,E-혹은 Z-형,그리고 이들의 혼합물형의 구조식(I)의 3-치오비닐-세파로스포린과 그 산부가염,금속염 및 질소 함유염기의 부가염을 제조하는 것으로 되어 있다.[효과]본 발명에 의한 신규물질은 결정화나 크로마토그라피와 같은 물리적 방법으로 임의 정제될 수 있으며,신규 세파로스포린 유도체와 이들의 약학적 허용염들은 특히 유용한 항균작용 을 나타내어 VITRO와 VIVO에서 그람음성 및 그람양성균에 현저한 작용을 나타나는데,VITRO에서는 구조식(I)의 물질 물질은 0.5와 15마이크로그램/cc의 농도에서 페니실린 G에 감수성이 있는 포도상 구균(Staphylococcus aureus Smith) 에서 항균작용을 나타내며 페니실린 G에 내성인 포도상 구균 의 균주에 대해서는 1-30마이크로그램/cc의 농도에서 항균 작용이 나타났다. 대장군 Monod주에 대해서는 0.001-1 마이크로그램/cc의 농도에서 폐염감균(크렙시에라균)에서는 0.06-30마이크로그램/cc에서 감수성을 나타냈다. VIVO실험 에서는 구조식(I)의 물질은 Staphylococcus aureus Smith (페니실린 G에 감수임)로 감염시킨 생쥐의 감염증에 1일 0.2-15mg/kg용량의 피하주사투여로 유효하였고 대장균(Monod) 균주에 대해서는 1일 0.001과 10mg/kg용량의 피하주사 투여에 유효했다. |
